Organized by MIT Technology Review, the EmTech Europe conference will return on March 19/20, 2026, at the Athens Concert Hall in Athens.

The event is part of the global EmTech conference series launched by MIT Technology Review to examine emerging technologies that are likely to reshape the economy, research, and society. In the European context, EmTech Europe stands out with a distinct positioning: a forum that brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers to understand how innovations move from the laboratory to industry and public policy.

A conference focused on emerging technologies

Over two days, the conference explores the innovations shaping the next technological wave: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, climate tech, advanced materials, and quantum computing.

The program aims to provide a strategic perspective on these technologies: how they evolve into practical applications, which business models are emerging, and how companies can integrate them into their operations.

A dialogue between research, startups, and industry

The conference gathers a community composed of researchers, technology entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders. Among the announced speakers are Jurgi Camblong, CEO of SOPHiA GENETICS, and Minas Liarokapis, CEO of Acumino.

AI as the common thread

Like many recent technology conferences, EmTech Europe places artificial intelligence at the center of its discussions. Topics include the industrialization of AI systems, cybersecurity challenges, the economic impact of automation, and the ethical questions raised by large-scale deployment of these technologies.

Beyond technological advances, the event also addresses the societal and geopolitical implications of these innovations, at a time when AI is becoming a strategic issue for European economies.

Athens as a European meeting point

Choosing Athens as the host city also reflects the summit’s strategy: connecting European technology ecosystems beyond traditional hubs.

The conference is expected to bring together around 500 participants and about twenty speakers, in a deliberately compact format compared with large global tech conferences, encouraging exchanges between researchers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers.
