Augmented Messaging: Kraaft raises €13M to digitalize construction

Paris-based startup Kraaft aims to position itself as a key player in the digitalization of the construction industry with its platform, designed to bridge the gap between generalist tools like WhatsApp and complex solutions such as Procore.

Founded in 2020 by Marc Nègre, Cédric Boidin, and Thomas Reygagne, Kraaft offers an enhanced messaging app specifically tailored to the construction sector. The application combines the ease of instant messaging with advanced features such as photo geolocation, document management, and AI-powered workflows.

This approach allows the platform to address two major challenges: the sector’s low IT investment (1–2% of revenue) and slow digital adoption caused by limited accessibility for frontline workers. In 2023, the company achieved a 15% improvement in managing change orders, highlighting its direct impact on productivity.

Initially adopted in factories, Kraaft’s solution quickly gained traction on French construction sites during the pandemic. In just two years, the company tripled its user base, now serving over 1,000 businesses and handling more than one million messages per month. Its clients include major players such as SAUR, SPIE CityNetworks, and Ramery, along with smaller subcontractors.

By 2025, Kraaft plans to enhance its platform with planning tools, integrations with Procore and other third-party software, as well as AI-driven features to further automate processes.

This morning, Kraaft announced it has raised €13 million in a Series A funding round to support its development. The round, led by Dawn Capital, also included participation from Brick & Mortar Ventures, Chalfen Ventures, Stride VC, and OSS Ventures. The funds will be used to accelerate the startup’s expansion in the UK and Germany.
