GROWL raises €4.5 million to fund the launch of its connected punching bag

Leo DESRUMAUX, CEO of GROWL

Growl, a Franco-American startup founded by Léo Desrumaux and Nicolas de Maubeuge, aims to modernize boxing by combining connected sensors and artificial intelligence to provide an immersive experience for both amateurs and professionals.

Growl’s flagship product is a connected punching bag equipped with multiple sensors capable of analyzing users’ performance in real time. A virtual coach, visible via an integrated screen, guides training sessions, offers personalized workouts, and adjusts exercises based on users’ needs and skill levels. This solution enables at-home training while replicating the sensations of a traditional workout.

Founded in 2022, the startup has developed its concept and is preparing to launch pre-commercialization of its offering in April 2025. The machine is expected to hit the market in 2026 and will be priced at $4,500. Growl also plans to offer a subscription model starting at $150 per month, providing access to exclusive content and regular software updates. The startup targets a broad audience, ranging from enthusiasts to families, with an offering adapted for children as young as 10 years old.

Growl recently raised $4.75 million (approximately €4.5 million) in a funding round led by Skip Capital, with participation from Kima Ventures, Teampact Ventures, and UFC champion Cyril Gane. The funds will be used to finalize the production of the device, launch pre-sales next April, and strengthen its presence in the U.S. market.
