PATHWAY raises €9.4M to expand its real-time AI in the United States

Pathway, the deeptech startup specializing in real-time data processing, has announced a €9.4M ($10M) seed funding round led by TQ Ventures, with participation from Kadmos Capital, Inovo VC, Market One Capital, and ID4 Ventures. The funding aims to bolster its commercial presence in the U.S. and further develop its “live AI” technology.

A history rooted in scientific expertise and innovation

Pathway was founded in 2020 by ZUZANNA STAMIROWSKA, CLAIRE NOUET, JAN CHOROWSKI, and ADRIAN KOSOWSKI, brought together by a shared ambition: to revolutionize the management of real-time data streams. Zuzanna Stamirowska, with a background in economics and machine learning (Sciences Po, Polytechnique, ENSAE), laid the technological foundations of Pathway during her PhD at CNRS, where she worked on maritime trade forecasting. She identified a gap: the lack of software infrastructure capable of efficiently handling dynamic data was slowing the digitization of physical flows.

This realization was validated through an initial collaboration with CMA CGM as part of the SmartPort Challenge, where Pathway won a competition to optimize logistics management. The success of this pilot project allowed the startup to launch with a clear vision: enabling businesses to accelerate the “time-to-value” of their data projects through robust software infrastructure.

The founding team boasts complementary expertise:

  • CLAIRE NOUET, COO, structured operations after experiences in industry and finance (HEC, Sciences Po).
  • ADRIAN KOSOWSKI, CPO, is a renowned computer science researcher with a PhD at the age of 20 and experience at INRIA and Polytechnique.
  • JAN CHOROWSKI, CTO, previously worked at Google Brain and Microsoft, bringing advanced technical expertise.

In 2022, Pathway raised €4.2M ($4.5M) in pre-seed funding with support from funds like Inovo VC and Market One Capital, alongside notable angel investors, including LUKASZ KAISER, co-inventor of the Transformer architecture.

Technology for real-time decision-making

Pathway has developed an open-source framework enabling real-time data processing and direct integration into AI applications. Unlike traditional AI models relying on static datasets, Pathway’s technology is designed to adapt to rapidly changing environments, such as logistics, transportation, and automotive industries.

The startup has collaborated with high-profile clients like NATO, La Poste, and Intel. During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, its solution helped La Poste optimize logistics flows despite increased disruptions. The technology was also used by a Formula 1 manufacturer to manage millions of data points in real-time during races.

A funding round to accelerate commercial growth

With this €9.4M funding, Pathway brings its total financing to €13.6M ($14.5M). The seed round, primarily equity-based, also includes a portion of debt. The funds will be used to:

  • Further develop its “live AI” technology, making AI models more responsive.
  • Accelerate commercial expansion in the U.S., a key market for real-time AI applications.
  • Strengthen its team, with a dozen positions open in R&D, sales, and marketing in France and the U.S.
