Founded 12 years ago by William Boiché and his father, Clementine has steadily established itself as a key player in online accounting in France. Quietly operating from its base near Nancy, the startup has remained independent and profitable since its inception. Today, Clementine Compta marks a significant milestone with its acquisition by TeamSystem, a European leader in accounting and invoicing solutions.
A 100% Bootstrapped Model
Clementine stands out in the French entrepreneurial landscape: the company has never raised external funding. As co-founder William Boiché explained on our FRENCHWEB Business podcast, their development strategy allowed them to build a platform that closely aligned with user expectations, scaling progressively to reach a stable customer base of 10,000 without the need for external capital.
From Profitability to Integration into a European Group
By joining forces with TeamSystem, Clementine enters a new chapter of growth. This partnership aligns with the Italian group’s strategy to accelerate its expansion in France. With 2 million customers and an annual revenue of €850 million, TeamSystem offers Clementine the resources to thrive in a rapidly evolving market, particularly with the widespread adoption of electronic invoicing.
A New Venture Awaits William Boiché in Cybersecurity
Co-founder William Boiché has chosen to hand over the reins to Maximilien Saint-Dizier, former sales director and a key figure in the company. At 35, William Boiché is closing the Clementine chapter to embark on a new project in the field of cybersecurity, focusing on large language models (LLMs) for artificial intelligence. “Clementine has been my pride for over 12 years, but I’m ready to take on new challenges,” he shared.
